Electrical Systems and bad batteries

I bought a battery from Kragen (I know, but I was there and it was cheap enough...and just an interim at the time) and I put it in and then took the 240z to SF for a weekend. On the way back, the car died on me and I had to tow it home. I started looking through it and found that the battery was bad. Took it to Kragen and had them test it and they confirmed that it was bad and replaced the battery via the 1 year warranty. My question is...did I get a bad battery or is it possible that something in my electrical system made my battery go bad? The battery was fine for the trip there and most of the trip back. I'm hoping I just got a bad battery.

Do an alternator check to make sure it's putting out the right amount of amps / volts.

well, 240s are externally reguulated, so they have an external regulator. This item was replaced recently as was the alternator. My question is could a bad alternator or regulator make a battery go bad? I'm just making sure it was nothing more than a bad battery.

yep... the battery can get toasted when an alternator (voltage regulator) goes out.
