i have the viper 791xv. its great cuz i can remote turn-on my car and it comes with a pager. also, it has starter kill, which pretty much kills the starter when the hood pops open or the alarm goes off.
i got the alarm $600 for $200 on ebay. one of my friends works at a local car audio place and he installed it for me...

I got the Audivox Prestige w/ remote start option, didn't install it though because I'm MT. It has dual shock sensor, the remote vibrates/alarms when my car is touched, works up to 1/4 mile away, tells me the temp. inside my car, keyless entry, the works..I have adjustable sensitivity as well. I turned it up all the way and rain drops set it off
. I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY reccommend getting this system.
