Egr valve elimination pros and con

I like the word con because if you're in California and get caught without an egr valve you can be con-victed. It depends on the where you live and their smog laws. However a car without an egr valve gains at least 5-10hp but you'll have to eliminate the catalitic converter which will also give you more hp. Hope that helps.

That is far from correct. The EGR isn't always active or passive. All it does is recirc a small amount of exhaust. Removing the EGR does not increase HP, nor does it also require removing the cat.

BUT if your car does have to be smog checked, they will likely ding you for not having an EGR which may or may not fail you.

Knowledge is a wonderful thing and everyone has some of it. Straight through exhaust piping does increase flow therefore increasing power and engine performance with fresh air fuel mixture tuning. It takes several engineers with varying skills to build a rocket and yes even a car. Happy new year Z'ers.

Alright... trying not to go overboard on this one...

USUALLY, yes.

As I previously stated, the EGR isn't always active. Just throwing out a random " +5-10hp " statement like that doesn't mean it's true. You should learn how and when an EGR works before assuming that removing it magically adds 10hp (which is an extreme stretch no matter what).

And again, removing the EGR and removing the cat are two unrelated things. You do not "have" to remove the cat when you remove the EGR... again the EGR isn't always functioning.

Arg... just open the FSM sometime.

The egr does not function under acceleration so it does not have an impact on hp. It does however lower combustion temp. Which in turn can lower operating temp. Do a little research before deciding to remove.
