dying to add more power
hey guys I'm back, my computer was all messed up....
well anywayz my car (280zx '83) has headers and exhaust on it and retrofitted 3'' cold air intake from 94 civic. I keep reading on how it's better to buy a turbo version of my car. Is there anyone who would like to donate a turbo engine, or give me more ideas to what else could be done. or possible trade a turbo for N/A car(I know that would be under never going happen section but gotta try anyway).
zero comes into play as I run through your streets

Neo-
I doubt anyone will just donate one unless they have one in their garage taking up space that they are dying to get rid of. I just paid about 800 for one in good working condition (under 100k and replaced pistons not too long ago) so I am only doing a bit of prep work, just cleaning things up (hot tank), 3 angle valve job, and balancing out everything again. Anyway, I wouldn't say its an expensive swap. If you paid 1000 for a donor car, and you just swapped em right in, and then went from there, it would be a relatively easy swap. I'm looking to pull a bit more hp... like 300+, so I have a few things I have to do. Actually, I'll be spending well into the 3-5 grand range, because I'll be getting an sds setup, bigger turbo, intercooler + piping, decent exhaust, external waste gate, bov, and some controls. My "cheap" swap turned into somethign a lil' more major. But that's okay, because I've decided to prolong the swap a bit.. more time, money, work, most people with similar projects run into the same thing. They figure that just a stock setup will due, and increasing power and modification will come later. When in fact.. its easier to setup things like sds and turbo's and i/c's when you're putting in the motor. Just my .02
