Daily drivers ?
How many of you use your Z,s for a daily driver ? I can personally say I do. I drive mine for work. Unfortunatly I dont have an office, ( well my Z is my office ). I drove my 78Z from Pocatello thru Bozeman to Helena back to Pocatello, a total of 700 miles. I averged 85 MPH and got 25 mpg. I am very proud of my Z. Anyone who has driven thru west Yellowstone knows how much fun that drive is. Monday the 19th I get to go Glasgow Montana, it is 1400 miles round trip. Then when I get back I have to drive another 1000 miles for 5 other jobs. I get to see some pretty country and get to drive on some great roads for handling. I have out cornerd just about every car imaginable. The best one so far was a 2003 Jette going from Helena to Butte. He held on up to 100mph then I guess he was at his limit. That is the fastest anyone has evr raced me thru mountains. Most give up after 85-90.
So anyways Z cars Rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

speaking of the mountains, i use to drive my z everyday , a 72 240z, but a month ago i was involved in a crash, i was up on the hills near woodside, and there was this turn come up apparently i wasnt cautious enought i came to the turn so soon when i spun out ended up in a ditch hole, yes that's right, no more 240z, no i have to look for a new one. but yea z's are real fun but you have to respect them.

Jeremy 5000 miles that is just for work huh. I will have 5k this week unfortunatly. I am hoping to get the bearings replaced in the Hondas front axles so I can give the Z a break. I am driving her way to much. I take extremely good care of her butshe is alomost 30. I have about 325k on her now.
I am a daily driver too! The only problem I have is there is too many people on the road! I haven't opened her up in quite a while. I had taken a previous 76 280 140mph!! I loved it and so did she! I also got a ticket that night!!

My best or worst tickets depending on how you look at it are. 110 in a 55 leaving Las Vegas then almost 1 hour later I was coming out of the Virgin River gorge and got hit again for 110 in a 55. I paid some serious fines but did not lose my licsense. Dam do i love my Z,s

Well good luck with that. My 78 Z is getting all new paint this winter and if money allows a new motor.
Are you doing the job yourself or having sent out ?
I highly recommend doing as much as you can yourself it will give you a better respect for your Z.

Speaking of resto. I've got a 77 Z that has some cancer on the lower part of both front fenders behind the wheel well. Should I just replace 'em or should I weld a piece of 20 guage and cover it w/ filler.

I just got back from a 1462 mile trip into Montana. Now nayonthat wants to raod test their Z I highly recommend Montana. I did no less than 90 MPH the whole time I drove in the daylight. I passed 5 cops and didnt even get a look. Now at night you do have to mind your P,s and Q,s, The cops will bust you because ther are to many hazards, like Deer, Elk and other such creatures. And if you go plan on headind norht to hvare. You can see the northern lights so brilliantly it is a extreme experience. I managed to get 30 MPG in my 78Z doing 90 MPH because I had a great 45mph tail wind. Otherwise i get 25mpg doing 85-90 mph. I will be posting pictures on friday the 24th.
Dam I love my Angel ( my Z,s name )
Take care and enjoy.
oh yea I found out my Fuel light works, I have never gone below a qauter tank, well I went 380 miles on a tank and ended up putting in14.6 gallons. But that little lite came on, I was wondering if it worked now I know.

In the early 80's I had a 79 280ZX and used that as my daily driver for a few years until I racked up enough point to lose my drivers license for 6 weeks. I thought I'd better get something a little slower and traded it in on a 4 wheel drive pickup.
This past September I bought a 77 280Z that I plan to restore and use for autocross. I look forward to taking it on drives in the mountains here in Montana. That road between Helena and Butte should be a lot of fun. I even enjoy that in my van.
