Cutting Strut Tubes??

I purchased some coilover springs with Tokico Illumina's for shortened 280Z struts and I want my Z as low as Ted Fisher's Z shown here:

Can anyone you give me a round about idea about where and how much I should cut my tubes?...2 inches?...3? Do I just cut somewhere in the middle off and re-weld the top half of the tube so that I still have that "cup?" If anyone has pictures on how to do this procedure it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -jAy

Aren't the Illumina's pressurized gas filled? If so, then if you cut them you will ruin them. It's not just the length of the tube that effects ride height. You have to deal with the length of the shock arm as well. Why do you want it that low? Are you racing it? Driving on the street like that will not be fun.

uh, 91zxtt... the 240-280 struts are housing in strut tubes, which can be cut down in length and used with different (Mr2 or vw rabbit) strut cartridges. This way suspension travel is not lost, but vehicle's lowered by about 2"

Interesting. Hadn't seen the set-up. I thought he was trying to cut into the Tokico housings.
