Cutting Out

Well, after replacing a defective brake caliper my car was finally ready to take a drive up the road. Well it has been idling a little funny but when I took it up the road it was really bad!

In every gear it cuts out really bad, especially in low rpm's and take off. I figured it wasnt getting enough fuel but my friend was behind me and notices it was shooting out black smoke. So that makes me think its running to rich.

I noticed starting to act up after I installed the intercooler and HKS BOV, but iv put maybe 15 miles on it since then. Could this have something to do with the intercooler or BOV. Right now my BOV is venting into the atmosphere which I know causes it to run rich, but this rich?? I also just put the filter for the BOV on if that might have something to do with it??

I would greatly apreciate any help

thanks
Rob

The BOV will only make it go rich when it evacuates. During cruising and driving it shouldn't make a difference...unless it's opening prematurely or leaking. What pressure is it opening at? Other than that the BOV and IC shouldn't do anything to make you run rich. Check your timing, make sure your AFM is operating properly, and also make sure all 6 injectors are firing. If one injector isn't firing then the O2 is going to pick up extra oxygen from that cylinder and the ECU is going to dump more fuel.

I figured out the main problem.. I didnt finish hooking up my intercooler piping and soemthing was blocking air from getting in. So there wasnt much air coming in but a lot of fuel. Its much better but its still running kind of funny.

Man do I fell stupid
