Carb Adjustment
The settings I was describing are for SU Carbs in general.. A 260 has slightly larger displacement but most likely will run well at the same settings. You can always play with it but you do not want to pay the price of going too lean.
If you can find them you should also get a set of Grosse Jets for the carbs as well.

There is no way you can set a carb to final tune by just setting the mixture by a set number of turns. Things like the space around the throttle shafts that leak vacume will not be the same form one carb to the other . There are just to many things that enter into this . For one thing are the carbs round top SUs or flat top units. I see this is an old post and if the units have been set lean it may be too late now in any case.
