alcohol injection
alcohol injection
I have been reading about a lot of turbo guys using alcohol injection on a 2.3L Ford turbo website. www.turboford.com Has anyone here tried an alcohol injection setup? The cooling effects are supposedly enough to be able to increase boost pressures five to ten psi! Let me know what you guys think.

Re: alcohol injection
This is very popular among the Buick GN crowd and it works. You need to spend a little time to get it setup and tuned right but you really can run a lot more boost with it.

Re: alcohol injection
I'm not talking about running alcohol as a fuel. You can inject alcohol (rubbing alcohol) into the intake for an cooling effect to lower the temp of the intake air charge. The setup is quite easy to make, with only a storage bottle and a windshield washer pump to inject the alcohol into the intake after the turbo. I'm considering making one to stop the detonation at that I usually get at the top end of the quarter mile. Thanks for your input.

Re: alcohol injection
That is exactly what we are trying to say. You inject the alcohol to reduce the temp of the intake charge and detonation and that allows you to run more boost.
