76 280 restore

This first post,thank you guys for running this forum,already found much info . I am starting a restore on a 76 280 (zx or 2x2 ?) vin.ghls30032760 decoder sayes not enough no. Body and frame is pretty good shape,no major rust,all suspension needs replaced bush ,struts,ect. Moter low miles after recent overhall good compression no leakdown yet. Tran. Is supposed to be from 85 300? Shifter is in stock position . Pic. Attached. Car was factory air,pretty much trash want to rebuild, need some help on this.thanks again im sure i will have more future questions.

According to the vin that is a 2+2. The trans is for a V6 and won't work in your car. You can find out more about it on www.zhome.com

this trans has been in this car since rebuild 2000x miles.clutch package pretty well shot ,throwout bearing froze up.just found trans no. 7706510.am going to do some measuring tomorrow was wondering why you said wont work?maybe reason clutch and throwout is trash.

Yeah that's not a Z31 (FS5W71C) transmission. That's a stock 280Z transmission. Sorry to burst your bubble.

is the number on bellhousing useable to find out exact info. for parts,clutch package ect. any idea where to look?going to break it down in future to inspect for any wear, rear seal looks like needs replaced anyway.any help appreciated thanks
