3" ZXT exhaust Help!!
I purchased a Borla TurboXL muffer, 3" aluminized pipe, 3" CATCO hi flow cat to increase the flow of my 82ZXT exhaust. I took it to a exhuast shop and they tell me they can't make that tight of bends on 3" without a mandrel bender which they don't have and say nobody else does either. They also tell me they can't get 3" over the rear crossmember although to my eyes the stock 2-1/2 with the shield on it is almost as big but has plenty of room. I know you guys out there have done it. How did you do it???
Thanks.
78Z, 82ZXT, & an 83ZXT. Lovin every minute of it... Scotty we need more power!
Thanks.

When you stay stock 2.5 inch pipe, do you really mean it is factory? I though the 280zx turbo had a 2 inch pipe...
Anyhoo, I have a 2.5" pipe on my 280zx n/a and it fit just fine with room to spare. they just used a pipe bender which cuts the flow down slightly on the turns. I think they are full of crap. Maybe the exhaust shop is trying to be too careful and they don't want your pipe too close to anything that might not like being heated.
Take it to another shop and dont' tell them what happened before, just pretend like it is the first time and they'll say, "ok, we can install it!"
Some people are just funny like that. Maybe he had a customer complain about his 3 inch exhaust on his 1999 Civic, so he decided not to install any more 3 inch exhaust pipes! :-D

Re: 3" ZXT exhaust Help!!
Thanks for the reply. I'll keep trying. I have a new problem as 2 days ago it decided it doesn't want to run anymore. Starts barely if at all and then misses terribly. Last night wouldn't start at all. So I've got a new distraction to keep me from thinking about the pipe..
