2+2 Springs
I have a question that I can't seem to get a straight answer on. Maybe you could help or steer me in the right direction. I own a 79 280zx 2+2. I am redoing the suspension w/new urethane bushings and Tokico illuminas. My problem is finding a set of springs for a 2+2. Tokico says their springs are not for a 2+2,
same w/eibach. I read that they can be used but I don't want to have to settle for "they will fit". I want "they will perform"!
Anyone experienced this?

I've noticed the same thing. They say their springs are not for the 2+2 but I think it's just a weight thing since the suspension is exactly the same as it is on the coupes. However the 2+2's weigh a little more. I don't think it will matter, especially if you lighten your car. I removed my bumpers, rear seat, some unnessacary emissions crap and some other stuff. I'm about to order some eibach springs myself.

I had a 2+2 that was wrecked and I was thinking of taking the suspension out of it but I was told the 260z suspension has wider springs and shockers 2+2 or normal as oppose to the 240z. I checked it out for myself and noticed that yes the 2+2 are bigger and most probably because of the extra weight involved. There were so many differences mechanically and body wise between a 240z and 260z 2+2 that most of the parts I couldn't interchange and had to leave to be towed away.
Anyway If I were you I wouldn't get the non 2+2 springs or suspension setup. I remember after I got the suspension put in the guys who did it said it took a bit longer than expected because the rear was different to what they expected. Since I didn't swap it over myself something I now regret as I now know a bit more about cars and am a bit more confident to do things myself I can't give my 100% answer but I strongly recommend more research.
I find these forums are good but not always the best your best bet is to call a wrecker or a specialist who works on these cars.
