I second that opinion. You really shouldn't seriously consider buying any turbo parts without already knowing a lot about auto mechanics. Even then, you'll want to study just how a turbo system works. Once you understand that, you'll know that you can't just slap a turbocharger onto any car and go.

However, you do have two options that I would suggest.
1) Get enough money to pay a specialized shop to install a turbo and all the nessisary hardware and electroincs to run it. $5000 or so probably.
2) ask your dad if you could sell the 280Z and put the money toward a 1981-83 280ZX turbo. They are all set to go from the factory. you'll be pretty happy with that as your first car I think. Cost $2000-4000 depending on condition.

Read these web pages on how a turbo works. This is the stuff I read when I first did research on turbos. Then decided to not turbocharge my car!

Ya, that's a really good idea too.
Find out all you can about the turbo car. (I think turbos are better than NOS) See if its a 280zx turbo complete engine swap or if he pieced together a normally aspired engine and turbo stuff.

Find out how much boost it has and any other good stuff and post it here. Let us all know.
