throw out bearing

I obtained a 5 speed from one of the forum members to update my '73 240Z and find that the throw out bearing is worn to the point of replacement being a good idea.

I have not taken the old bearing off yet as the manual says nothing about removal, only to install a new one.

Does one simply pry it off?

I did not want to damage the throw out collar so figured I had better check with the experts first!

As always, your help is appreciated.

Craig

Yep. Remove the fork retaining clip and slide it off. The bearing is pressed on to the collar, and that's usually how they are sold:

I was able to just get the bearing for $16 and found a Youtube video that showed knocking the old one off with a socket that fit on the inner lip of the collar and pressing the new one on with a vise. Pretty easy as it turns out.
