Roughly How Much Does This Weigh?

I'm planning ahead for the reinstall of this motor/tranny combination (completely refurbished and refinished of course). I now have my own hoist and would like to get the maximum safe extension on the lift arm.

My choices are 1/4 ton (500 lbs), 1/2 ton (1000 lbs) and 1 ton (2000 lbs). I'm hoping we're under 500 lbs as that's the max extension on my lift but my eyeballs just aren't calibrated to weigh something like this and it also broke my bathroom scale.

Anybody know????

shipped a L28 turbo engine once. With the pallet and some steel brackets to hold it down it weighed 425 lbs. so I'm guessing about 380 lbs. Trans weighs about 90 with flywheel and clutch.

Thanks, that's good news and a great photo as well. I really want that clearance over the front core support when that baby goes back in. It's much too perfect to damage...

BTW, that photo was taken with a cell-phone camera and it shows way too pink and not enough blue.

Thanks to the both of you I'll now extend my lift's arm out to 1/2 ton from 1 ton.

Awesome photo BTW. It seems we all have to take that photo as a before shot (please don't tell me that's an after shot).

Also noticed the background kind of looked familiar. Rock landscaping and a carport. I even use some of the same parts totes. Had to be Arizona or maybe New Mexico and your info verifies it's Phoenix. Howdy neighbor. Are you in the Z-club up there? Our Z-club here in Tucson is kind of small and wishes they were big like the one in Phoenix. We do have some fun though.

That's a nice video Jamal. I wish I could hold the camera that steady.

I'll keep an eye out for doing that run next year as I think this car will be done by then (fingers crossed). Will want some miles on it before we start doing longer runs so we get the early mortality problems worked out.
