short shifter kit

hey, I've been looking for a short throw shifter kit for my Datsun. I have the type F4W71A transmission, and I'm having trouble even finding a company that carries short shifter kits for a 72 Datsun. If anyone knows where to find these, I'd appreciate the help. Thanks.

Motorsport (MSA) carries them. At least they are in their catalog. I think that they are around $200.00. K.

Is the base of the shifter on the early 240Zs the same as the 280Z and 280ZX transmission?
From what I've seen the MSA short shifter kit only works on Datsun transmissions from 1975+ when they changed the base of the transmission and the length of them.

I understand that they make them for both, but the best results 60% reduction in throws is achieved from 75+ trannys? K.

1971 240 Z Hopefully on road soon!

that is msa. and yes, they WILL send a catalog if you request it.. but they didnt send me one after i ordered my exhaust, and i DID say something about it on the fone, so do the internet thing. anyone have any solid idea how often they actually come out with new ones? i know this one is still fairly young (that one with the purple 280ZX was around for like four years right?) but its always cool to see the pretty pictures :- )

msa is slightly limited. The F4W71A has the straight shifter that goes down into the linkage for the transmission. It is located near the end of the transmission itself, near the driveshaft. This is what the shifter linkage looks like:

If you have a haynes manual, the picture of it is on page 95 in the transmission section.

I wonder if the shifter linkage is the same from the 1600 as it is from the early 240Z's? If so, maybe they have a shift kit for the 1600....just a thought.
