s30 l28et swap help
Hey all. So my friend and I are in the process of changing over our 1982 280zx FI Turbo Motor into our 1971 240z body, and we have some questions. We are following the tutorials found on yadamnfool.com, and a lot of the harnesses that are shown there do not seem to match the harnesses that we have pulled out of the 280zx engine bay. That, and the tutorial does not seem to have some wire routing areas listed.
Our main concern right now is with the FI/Fuel Pump Relay, as the tutorial does not tell where the blue/red wire is to be routed to, only that it controls the on/off of the fuel pump and the 5 sec. prime segment. Where does this wire need to be run in order to work properly? Also, On the Fusible Links, it tells that the brown and green wires are to go to the (+) terminal on the Starter. Do both wires connect to the same spot that the large power wire connects, or do they connect to the spade so that they get power while the car is being started? The tutorial seems to be confusing with this.
And on the ignition harness connector, where do the 2 black wires go?
We have looked at the thread http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=103728
and

Thanks in advance

well, on mine i didnt use it, i just have the fuel pump hard wired to a fuse and switch. i prime by hand . and its EASY wiring, liek soldering in some of the areas is a bitch, but teh wiring itself is easy. and since itsa 240 the fuel pump doesnt run off the ecu/afm signal anywho, least i dont think it would since it was carbuerated. search on zcar.com tehy have some drawn up diagrams and one or two of my harness plugs didnt match up much ethier but you can figure it out by looking at your own specific diagrams. ill try to rememer and take some pics for you tommorow.

alright cool... yea we were planning on swapping the "push-button start" we have from the 280zx in to the 240z anway, which has a toggle for the fuel pump and a momentary for the starter, so wasn't sure how important it would be anyway...
and I found that the brown/green wires go back to the ECU through studying the diagrams, but what about the B/W wires coming from the EFI relay? Do we even need any of that relay or the black box the brown/white wires are connected to if we are hardwiring the fuel pump?

i cant believe you posted this there: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=121783
now, my harness didnt match either to what the diagrams for my year said, and niether did the illustrations on those sites (the turbo harness this is) but you can look at the plugs teh number or wires and where colors are and pretty much guestimate which ones are what and what to use. what i did to help me was lay out all my info i had and then drew down my OWN diagram with the matching plugs and wire colors for MY car and MY harness.... then it was easy as pie. now get to it yah bum!
ps. sorry i didnt take any pics i was working on the car all day then doing lots of body work on this RSX front end

its uber easy, into the early S30 bodies, you dont have any of that A/C crap and blah blah blah, this and that, you end up grounding about 3 wires and actually wiring up an addition 7. its easy as pie.

yup... everything is attached to the harness the way it shows in the diagram, fuel pump relay has been deleted, and everything that goes to a 12v switched power is wired together and ready to be added into the ignition for power.
Last question though, on the "Fusible Link", it shows that the brown/green wires go to the starter, but that the wires on the other little clip don't go anywhere... what is the point of having the wires powered if they don't go anywhere? am I missing something?
