New datsun 280z owner need help..

ok i just bought a 76 280z and am very happy the only real problem with the car(besides some rust)is when i accelerate the car cuts out and starts jerking around at around 2500 to 3000 revs and then after that takes off out of no where. the guy who sold it to me says its just in need of a tune up but i was wondering if anyone else had any advice as to what might cause this?

Welcome to ZDriver!

Could be several things, so yes, you should begin with a tune up.

Check the spark plugs & wires, cap & rotor, timing, sensor wiring, sensors (especially the AFM and TPS). Also give it some fresh gas.

Check all the fuel filters, I got my 280Z after it had been sitting for about 5 years in a guys driveway, and I went through about 4 before I decided to drop the tank and clean it out by hand.
