New Battery

Hey guys - haven't been around in a long time, but it's nice to be back.

I got a 76 Z and the battery went dead. No problem, just disconnect the cables, go down, and get a new one.

But wait (he thought a few seconds too late), there aren't TWO wires attached to the terminals. There are five. The usual big ones, plus three little skinny ones. Huhhhh?

Can anyone tell me which of the little ones go where?

Sorry for such a simple Q!

Well welcome back! So which terminal are you talking about? Have any pics? What colors are the wires?

those skinny ones are not very skinny i'm guessing probably 10-12 gauge and they run to your accessories and ignition, etc. CHECK IT BROHAM!

a quick test to see if i'm right is to lick your hand and grab them while holding onto the negative side with the other end.

I didn't go so far as licking the battery, but did trace everything back. You're right; two small wires connected with the positive cable (and terminal), and one looked like it should go with the neg. Presto; power! Thanks for the input, and next time I won't work on it at twilight, with no flashlight. ;-)
