fuel pump runs even when keys are out
i started to tear into my z yesterday. i'm getting better at searching and have learned a lot, but i haven't found what i'm looking for so, here goes.
when the battery is hooked up, the fuel pump starts to run even when there are no keys in the ignition. i'm guessing it's a relay that is stuck in the latched (closed) position. i still haven't found a repair manual yet, so can someone tell me where the fuel pump relay is?
what i don't get is that there has to be power delivered to the coil side of the relay for it to engage. so is there another relay (ign maybe) up the line that could be latched, sending power to the fuel pump relay? if so, where would it be? but if the ign was stuck, then wouldn't there be power to all the accesories, like wipers etc? there isn't until the key is turned.
everything else on the car works just fine, but i really don't want to install a manual cut-out switch for the fuel pump or batt disconnect switch.
anybody have any suggestions?

280z fuel pump relay is just above the hood latch. See attached pic.

i fixed the fuel pump problem. it was the relay. the new one that i got had a totally different connection layout than the origional so i opened up the one that was on the car. one of the blade connectors was pushed too far in, making contact with the coil, powering the fuel pump. reset the pin, closed up the relay, sealed it, put it in place, works great.
now the engine has little to no throttle response. i did the afm wiper track adjustment, cleaned all the connectors i could see best i could, even ran the engine with the throttle position switch disconnected. it still won't accelerate worth a sh*t. all the engine does is bog and backfire. when i unplug the injectors one at a time, the engine runs rough, with the exception of number 4. no change in idle when i unplug it. could my lack of throttle respose be as simple as one injector malfunctioning? i was hoping the afm adjustment would have fixed it. it didn't.
before i started playing with the fuel injection, i drained the 6 yr old gas, changed the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, vacuum advance and a few rotten vacuum lines. the engine started right up while i was standing outside the car. i did a small happy dance but it didn't last long.
sooooo, i'm still searching the past threads on this site, but anybody out there have any suggestions?
