I have a 1978 280Z with 72K original miles. The car is running decent but the exhaust stinks of gas. I actually had a person driving behind me pull up next to me and tell me that there is a gas smell coming from the car. There are no gas leaks. I was told of course that the engine was running rich. I had the timing checked and it was fine. Are there any adjustments to adjust the fuel mixture so I can lower it? Thanks--Mark

Did this just start happening, or is this something that has been going on for a while? Let's start with that.
While there are ways to adjust the ratio, it's not really what you want to do, it's a bandaid fix, and just covers the issues that may cause this instead of fixing it.

^^second that, if it's getting too much fuel it's possible that the cold start injector is staying open all the time, spraying extra fuel in.
