AFM issues

OK i have looked through a lot of the posts and done a bit of homework but I am having a problem with my AFM. If i have it disconnected from the Air flow system but the electrical connector attached I can crank the car and it will run the moment I push the valve down the engine starts to choke and then completely stalls. I have to have it running by Monday so worst case scenario I will connect the AFM off to the side and just connect my air intake directly into the throttle body. I have tried 2 different AFM's that have both previously worked and it does the same thing with both of them... SO i know it has to do with fuel but what can cause the engine to stall entirely when the ECU sends out the signal for the fuel enrichment?

Back to my FSM to try and figure this out but any help is appreciated

Mee thinkith I got an answer I just went out to my car and cranked it with the AFM off as previously stated and pulled the plug off of my Water temp. Sensor..... and nothing happened... this means to me the sensor or the wiring to the sensor is dead which means when the AFM increases fuel enrichment the engine is just flooding and can not run ... I plan on going to replace the WTS and the wiring tomorrow and hopefully my issue will stop

P.S. This entire thing is Confusing as you know what. because everyone says the S130 has a CHTS. However, I am assuming because it was the first year they made it Nissan decided to keep the 79' a WTS as confirmed with the FSM.

You have a 280Z or 280ZX? (you posted this in the S30 section).

Yes, all 280Z's and some of the 79-80 280ZX's use the water temp sensor instead of the CHTS (been discussed before). It's the same sensor, just diff location.

I second your dx... replace the water temp sensor.
Have you adjusted your AFM with the steps in the write-up?
