240Z Electric Fuel Pump Wiring

I have done a lot searches and it seems a lot of people wire this up differently. I have an electric fuel pump wired in to a switch directly from the battery. what I would like to do is remove the switch and wire it into the ignition "on" 12V circuit. the problem is that I don't know which out of the 5 wires on the ignition plug is constant 12 before and after the car turns over at "on".

I would be able to figure this out with time but I don't want to get the multi-meter out and start shooting wires.

thanks, Scott

While you can draw power from the switched circuit, the power should pass through relay contacts whose coil is energized via an oil pressure switch or the alternator turning (trickier to do if your car has had the alternator swapped for an internally regulated alternator). Having that relay will reduce the chance of the fuel pump running after an accident, avoiding pumping fuel through the carburetors and onto a hot manifold, an event that could lead to FIERY DEATH.

Seriously, the cut-off is important for your safety. Page EF-7 of the 260Z FSM shows a safe way to run an electric fuel pump.
