Hello all, New to the s30 world and recently picked up a 78 Datsun 280z roller. Needless to say Im in love and plan on a v8 swap, Though she needs quite a bit of work, Im a motor head but new to the auto body world. So comes my first struggle, Iv found most of the replacement panels I need for the car except one. The rear tail light panel.. Not sure how to describe it (where the tail lights would bolt to the rear end) Looks like ill prob need another Z parts car to cut what I need. Though Iv also thought about cutting another 1/2 inch down from the welds and replacing it with a patch. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I had planned on buy this replacement panel...though it will only solve some of the issue

 

Found some pics of what the rear end is supposed to looks like. Any ideas on how to get there would be helpful.
