I have a '72 parts car and there is polished trim in the rubber seals front and rear. When I removed it, it seemed to be nickel or chrome on the back side were it hadn't been exposed. I will send pictures of the interior next week to your "private messages". Your reference to wind screens leads me to think you might live where they drive on the wrong side of the road, heh heh! If so there could be differences between the American and other imports. There is a book on how to restore your 240Z available from MSA.

Above is a couple interior pics of my car. it has the orginal carpet, except for the pass. area, which is covered by a mat so you cant see it.

good luck looks to be a loop style not cut.

You may want to take a look at www.datsun.com I believe they have details re: original interiors.

My 72 is white, with a red-diamond pattern interior. My flooring and rear carpet are gone, so I can't tell you what it had originally. You could always put in some artifical astro turf (artificial grass!) as it was popular here in the states, in the 70's.
