looking for 240Z as restoration project

Hello together,

as you could read here also: https://www.zdriver.com/forums/240z-260z-280z-s30-forums-9/z-enthusiast-greets-states-30963/ I am looking for an early Z in most possible original condition, what could grow up again under my hands.
It should be a 1st series 240Z up to 73 without big modifications like motor or tranny swap.
The gearbox could be automatic or manual transmission, 4 or 5 gear.
The Interier can be in a used look, but as possible with all parts, would like to make it inside new.
The chassis can have rust, but also in a kind what is reperable.
Motor and tranny should work without real problems, carbs could I change or adjust, but the rest should work.
Paint isn't a matter. If it is in a good original condition without dents would be great, but if it is matt or has to much scratches and dents I will paint it new.

I am loocking for a car to buy into the next month, so I have currently plenty time.
It would be very helpfull to me, if is it near by a big harbour. I have to ship it to germany, so a "big" travel through the states could make my plan more different when I come over buy the car and needed parts.

Please feel free to send me all your available Zs, because I look of course for "my" best deal in condition, price and location.
If someone of you has great tips for me, what shipping company to use, or any else what helps me for my restauration project, would be nice to let me know.
When you are not to far away from my location next month I would like to spend you a beer or two

Looking forward for nice pics, please mail to: 240Z @ kaphengst.net (without the spaces befor and after "@")

Regards Jochen

Hello...As for the 240z's. They were made from 1969-1973. After that was the 260z from 1974 -1975. Then the 280z from 1975 -1978. And after that the 280zx from 1979 -1983. etcc.... Anyway just wanted to tell you the correct years of the first two generations of Z's.

And good luck on your search for a 240z.

^ Hello XJO...Yes I have seen an original unrestored orange 1969 240z. It was really sweet, and quite rare. That was a few years ago. And I wasn't trying to be little you. I just wanted to share what I know. And give you more knowledge on these awesome cars. Once again, good luck.

A real '69 would be really great, but I think in a good condition awesome expensive.
Thanks for your help.

^ No seriously....I have seen a '69, they are very rare. Was a low production run. It was sitting in a Z junkyard. Out in Deer Valley. Anyway I can't quite remember, how many they made. I'll have to research on that.

Not to question your knowledge. Just stating, I have seen one in person. It was unrestored, original shape. It was orange with the black interior. I wish I would have taken pictures of it. When I saw it. It only sold for 4k. Because it had to be restored, hence it didn't run.

the earliest known production Z still in existence is car HLS30-00013 with a manufacture date of 7/69 which would get a titled and sold as a 1970

cars 14 and 15 are still missing and the next oldest is HLS30-00016

cars 1, 2 and 3 where built and disassembled for QA. cars 4 and 5 where factory test cars,
run in North America and then returned to japan for quality examinations.
The lowest prodection car not for testing was car HLS30-00006 and was given to Bob Sharp by Nissan to be the first 240z race car
(the infamous car #33)

cars 7 and 8 were also used as race cars and are still in existence as vintage race cars

Okay....I don't want to get in a debate with you. Perhaps he thought it was a '69. I know it was a very low numbered one. And it went for 4500 unrestored. So you might be right. I can't always go by someone's words. Because it wont always be right. You know what, I believe you. You seem to know your facts. I stand corrected.

Im just sayin technically yes, there is a 69 because of the manufacture date but they where all made late in the year and titled and sold as 70's

so there are Z's built in 69 but none with a 69 title

just like the 2010 new cars all come out at the very end of 2009 an ****
and the 2011 cars will start coming out the end of this year

Hi blk240,
sounds nice so far.
Could you please let me get some pics of your car inside outside, your location and of course your pricelevel.
How long you own the car and wich seats are in? Does original ones fit in again?
please send pics to: 240z @ kaphengst . net without the spaces between.
Thanks.

Hi Guys,

In three Days I put my Feets the First Time on US ground, but still has no 240z in sight to buy.
I will stay in orange or somewhere in this Area, and I am looking in a distance from about 300 mls.

If somebody knows a nice Z what fits to my Request above in that Region, please let me know.

Craiglist I View few times per Day, but the most owners don't like to answer a German guy I think....

Thanks for any help.

Joe

If you are going to be picking it up in person, I wouldn't tell the seller you are from a foreign country. I would tell them I am going to be in the area from xxxx to xxxx and would like to come look at the car.

He doesn't have a picture in his ad, but it might be worth an email.

Yes I realized too that its much more easy, if I Call them from an US Number.
I just mailed the owner and gave him my Number, but still wait...

Thanks for the hint!
