'96 300zx TT, 2 seater, MT.

My car seemed like there was nothing wrong while I was driving home the other night. I got to within 300 ft of my driveway when the HICAS light came on and my engine shut off. Luckily I was able to keep the momentum going and get it off the street while barely overcoming the lack of power steering.

Now it wont start and the HICAS light stays on while the ignition is on.

I recently topped off my power steering fluid (maybe about 2 weeks ago), and I made the mistake of not using ATF. Could this be the problem? I don't want to take the time flushing out the system if the problem is likely something else.

This is my first post, let me know if I forgot to mention anything or if I am breaking the rules. I tried searching relentlessly for similar symptoms, to no avail.

I don't have much experience with the Z32... but from a quick Google search it sounds like it's more of an electrical problem. Have you tried pulling the ecu codes? Have you tested for spark? Fuel?

I found that guide, but since I cant get my engine running it wont work. Ill try to pull the ECU codes. I think I have an OBD-II around here somewhere. IIRC, it's required for the '96 and a '96 only
