Fuel Temp Sensor

1985 300ZX NA

Fuel temp sensor wire broke cleanly off the sensor itself. Trying to find a replacement sensor and pigtail without much luck.

Car seems to run fine without it. How critical is this? (knowing it will cause an error code).

I believe AZ-ZBum had mentioned that the fuel temp sensor isn't sold by itself, you have to buy the whole fuel pressure regulator. I believe I have a spare FTS somewhere... I will check this week.

And it's not absolutely important, the ecu only uses it above a certain temp (specs are in the FSM).

Yeah, that's what I'm learning...sucks too because I bought and installed a parts store regulator that didn't have the sensor.

you can waste $60 like I did and get one with fuel temp sensor and it won't do a damn thing for you. Car runs fine either way. fuel mileage the same either way. Error codes are usually not helpful anyway so why worry.

I got one from Steve at 300ZXpartsforyou.com for like $15.00. Mine broke off clean too and I wanted to replace it so things would look right under the hood. It looks right now and I think it's working but couldn't tell any difference from before the old one broke, to when it was broken, to now with the new one installed. The car doesn't seem to care but I don't like broken stuff if I can fix it.

Local pick and pull has a new Z in their inventory - an 87 2+2. Got the sensor and pigtail off that on Friday. Also got a couple other little pieces. Total tally: $10
