Smile Its About To Begin

Well just purchased another car to use wile I start the v8 swap into my 77 280z. Ive built a truck engine before with a 60overbore, stage 2 racing cam, bigger fuel injectors, high comp pistons, headers followed by a true dual exaust... Would this be a good build for MY Z or what would you recomend the truck engine was running aprox 400hp at the rear. I do know that I am go ing carburated. By the way the temp car is a 1994 geo metro open the hood and first thought is "Brigs and Stratton" well wish me luck and any thought you may have would be helpful.

Thumbs up

I Dont Believe Lt1's Came In Any Trucks.
Mostly In Comaros, Vetts, Caprices, And Impalas.

But Besides The Lt1, For Building A 350 You Only Need To Pay Attention To What Year Design It Is, To Know If It Has 1 Or 2 Piece Rear Main Seals, I Think 1985 And Earlier Has 2 Piece Rear Mains With Flat Tappet Lifters. And After 1985 They Went To 1 Piece Rear Mains With Roller Lifters. Engines With 1 Or 2 Piece Rear Mains Could Either Come With 2 Or 4 Bolt Mains. If Your Looking To Do Only Minor Mods, Start Off With A 4 Bolt Block.
But If Your Looking For Major Power And Are Going To Race Prep The Block Go For 2 Bolt Mains. Because After All The Other Machine Work Your Going To Have Done To Your Block. You Can Have It Line Borred And Tapped For Splayed 4 Bolt Main Caps Whick Are Stronger Than Stock 4 Bolts Mains That Go Straight Into The Block. Theres No Difference Between 2 And 4 Bolt Blocks, Besides The 2 And 4 Bolt Mains.

I Hope This Helps You In Any. For More Info On 350's Jegs Sell A Book Thats Full Of Usefull Info. Its Called how To Build The Sb-chevy Part #840-26-1 And Its $16.00

Good Luck In Your Swap

fuel injection to carb.

If you are not useing fuel injection and are going to a carb. engine you will be pulling out a LOT of wires from under your dash, including fuel pump relays and injector wireing.
Not a fun job and hard to get at. I just did it. Took three days under the dash but all is well now. STU

long time no chat

ok its been a wile but I am getting closer to getting her on the road, attached is a few pics for your veiwing pleasures. the engine is a 1975 sbc 350 4bolt main 010 block, I kept the 882 heads and the standard bore, added scat conectng rods, .275 dome top pistons (10.3to1 compression), melling 22301 cam set, weilend xcelerator single plane intake, 750 edelbrock carb, acell high performanced hei ignition kit, 1 5/8 block hugger headers, and a 700r4 trans. I would definatally recomend the JTR conversion manual for anybody else doing the V8 swap.
