Hey all I recently got pulled over doing 106mph in a 55mph with my speedo only reading 59mph. So the local majistrate says I have to get a new one to get out of the ticket. Its for an 82 280zx no turbo. Let me know please...

 

damn dude, hahahaha. how could u not tell you were going over the speed limit. Im sorry but theres a HUGE difference in the feel of the car at 55 and 106 and between how fast things go by you...

 

I know what you mean and I was very aware of my speed, but the cop noticed my speedo read 20 when I was standing still... so he said I had to go have it inspected and they said if I got a new functioning one they would drop the pionts which means I get to keep my liscense. My car has a pretty bad reputation with the local law enforcement comunity. God help um when I get my V8 swapped.

Well go to a shop and have them recalibrate your speedometer first off

 

The ticket was $295 plus court cost which my court date is in JAN. I actually have some good freinds that work at a speedo shop but something in the speedo head is shot so they say I need a new one. I would like to bump up to a 120mph unit but don't have big bucks to do so.

 

hey man whenever i go to the junkyards i always see a ton of 120 speedos

 

What yards hae them in um. Every where around here there all gone to old to keep

 

I usually seen them quite often on e-bay for bids. Just type in 280zx speedometer, and I am sure you will find one eventually. That is where I got both of my 120mph speedos.

 

You better get it fixed fast jan isnt to far away... start the work yourself find the bolts and screws and un do the dash get to the back of the speedo and look for any loose burnt wires please do this i dont want to see another z car in the police impound lot... =-(

 

i have a canadian speedo that is the 220 kms per hour or 130 mph from a 82 turbo
