Hey guys, my transmission is stuck in 2nd gear. You can move the shifter and it feels like its going into 1-4 (5th and reverse are non op) but its still stuck in 2nd. I'm looking for an 81-83 non turbo 280zx trans because I like the closer ratio gears and 5th gear is awesome for cruising until I get my t-5 rebuilt.

If you know of anyone selling one or any place to look let me know! The Z is my only car so I'm stuck to wingin it until I find a new trans.

what are you doing with the old trans? and yeah whats your location? cause i have a good 5spd trans but one of the tranny half cases is cracked wondering if you'd be willing to sell me or send me the half i need, just the case half. i'll have to look and see which half it is though cause i forget.

My old one I'm going to rebuild it, use it as a learning tool and a backup if this happens again.

 

darn..... well they are really simple trannies. you probably just messed up a shifter fork. honestly, you could probably fix that problem with pull and install in a couple days if your comfortable tearing into stuff.
