where to live

we are looking at apartments and i had some questions. we are looking at apartments on the west side of the city since my wifes hospital is northwest (mountain viw hospital). So far most of the apartments that we like are in the lakes and spring valley area. Is that a nice area of the city. we want decent apartment prices with garages and a neighborhood that we dont have to worry about our **** getting broke into. let me know what you guys think.

also is there any kind of public trans in vegas besides that very small scale train that runs behind the strip from the hilton to the airport?

Between the Lakes and Spring Valley area, probably the Lakes area is safer.IMO
As far as mass transit theres the CAT bus system, which goes pretty much everywhere in the valley.

I agree with the Lakes being the much better neighborhood. Generally, the farther from the strip you get, the better the neighborhood.

There are brand new apartments (about a year old) off of the 95 and Durango(Centennial Hills). About 7 miles from the hospital. Im not exactly sure of the rates though. Everything is being developed around there those... tons of new shops going in.

I would advise him to rent a house before an apartment. If your looking to rent an apartment with a garage your going to be spending just as much anyway. PM me with a monthly price range and I'll see what I can find for you,

I could hook you up with a condo if you want?! Anywhere from $800-$900 a month for 1200-1400sqft 2bd/3bd-2bth. Let me know if you're interested in just renting or buying; we have a real estate agent/friend that hooked us up with our place. I live on Decatur and Ann in N. Las Vegas and I've had no crime problems to speak of since I've lived there in the past year.

speedster, i sent you a pm...

we are basically looking for a 1 br apartment/condo. furnished is also a big plus. we can only guarantee 6 months (unless i find a good job there, she likes her hospital, etc, etc, etc) it has to be within 10 or so miles of Mountain View hospital. I think thats all the basic.... oh and the cheaper the better... we are both going back to school this year.

thanks for all your help guys, we appreciate it, especially since we cant really go look at the places in person since we are in norcal.
