Stripping Party!!!
Stripping Party!!!
I am throwing a tech session at my house Saturday November 12. Here is what I want to do to my car...
- Remove roll bar for powdercoating
- Remove 70% interior plastic
- Remove all speakers
- Remove carpet
- Remove sound deadener
This will be step #1 in my Z's transformation to a track car. This should only take a few hours so if you have some stuff you want done to your Z we can do that.
The details are marked on the calender.

Speaking of stripping, ALL of my lug nuts stripped and now I can't even get my front wheels off. None of them were cross threaded when they went on and all were torqued to 85 ft. lbs. Everything was fine until after this last track weekend. All of the rears came off with a fight and stripped the lugs and studs. All of the fronts just spin freely without coming off. The studs on the rear are already temporarily replaced while I wait for Nismo long studs to arrive. Any ideas on how to get the front wheels off?

You'll probably have to apply pressure (a hammer) to the base of the studs and hope that they'll stick enough to be able to unscrew them. Otherwise you may have to take a crowbar and get it between the rim and rotor and apply enough pressure to let you unscrew them. Either way it'll suck.
I'll be around tomorrow if you need help.

I started working on the car a little bit today. I got the Kinetix HF Cats off and the driver's side exhaust manifold is one bolt away from coming off. I also changed out the front wheel studs to some Nismo 60mm ones.
I got a good tip for removing the sound deadener that includes dry ice and a hammer so that shouldn't take very long. If we get done early with the interior gutting, all of you are more than welcome to stay and help with the headers.
