Stillen engine damper

Anyone else have it?

You might want to check and make sure it's not coming apart. I went to change my oil today and noticed that mine had come apart. The adjusting nut didn't come loose, the whole thing actually fell apart. The end of the damper body actually came unscrewed. Fortunately, it was the top that came udone, so I didn't loose any of the internals. I'm going to call Stillen and see if they'll send me another one since mine now looks like *** from bouncing around.

The only other person I know that may have a Stillen engine damper is Ty (Roneski). I'm not sure if he took it off, but if he hasn't, let's hope he gets this.

Mine had fallen apart but I put it back together. It's off now since it doesn't fit with the tirbo piping.

Did you call Stillen when it happened? I talked to them today and they said if I know of happening to anyone else, they'd like to know about it. They want me to send mine to their R&D dept so they can figure out what happened. I told her that one end of the damper body has flat spots to allow you to put a wrench on it and tighten it, but the other side doesn't. I suggested they might want to have flat spots on both ends and she said she'd pass my suggestion to R&D along with my old one.

Wow, you guys aren't gonna believe this....

Talked to a guy named Trevor at Stillen. He basically accused me of lying about the damper coming apart. He said there's no possible way it could come unscrewed. He said my story sounded "kinda shady" and suggested that I'm not competent to work on my own car. He said he'd sell me a replacement part for $30 and recommended I have a professional install it. I told him that if losing $30 to keep a customer happy doesn't make sense to him, he just doesn't get it. He said he's not in the business of giving away free parts. Someone backed into my car on Tuesday. I now need a new bumper cover. I told him that because of the crappy service I'm receiving, I won't be buying the Stillen bumper cover, which is what I had planned to do. He said, "I'm sure you were" sarcastically. I recommend nobody do business with them. I certainly won't be.

Just send them a link to this thread by email, along with a nice letter to the manager. Are they a sponsor here?

I personally have never and will never buy from them because of all the negative feedback I have heard about their costs and service. And I still have a lot of plans for my Z.

He also blew me off when I told him that I had a business that sells high performance parts for Hyundais (link in my sig) and that I would never treat a customer this way. I guess he thinks Stillen is the only shop around.

This is definitely not the first time I've heard of Stealin's customer service being the sorriest around. For a performance part company with a name like Steve Millen owning the place, one should think that they should be really professional and friendly. I wonder if Millen knows about the extremely crappy service the give or if this is the way Millen runs his "business".

I like "illen" - as in "you be"

I bought a power steering cooler from them and the threads were so full of barbs and metal crap that I couldn't use it. They allowed me to return it for credit, but wouldn't issue a refund. Then like 6 months later they gave me a check.
Very poorly managed company.

Man, that sucks. I have acct with stillen, and i refuse to use it. They shipped us the wrong set of headers once, and admitted it was there fault. Then they wouldnt send a call tag for it and said if we wanted the replacement, we would have to pay to ship the old one back to them and then pay to ship the new one to us. Thats just not right.

On topic, has anyone used the Pro 1 Engine Dampers?

I think someone at Stillen may have seen one of my posts about this. I just got a call out of the blue from someone in customer service saying that they were going to send me out a new one and that they want me to send mine back. I told the guy that my main problem was with the way Trevor treated me on the phone. He said he'd look in to it.

this might be an old thred and all..but i'vegot some stillen parts on my car NONE of which have been purchased from Stillen themselves. .i used Z1 Motorsports to accomplish that task so i guess they dealt with all of Stillens BS. .but so far so good on my parts. .i even have the Engine damper and it works fine for me i adjusted it and tightened it no problems. .I do think that Stillen should of just Stuck to making NIssan Parts from the Get Go instead of Expanding. .cause now thats what is killing them. .to many CHeifs. .Not Enough INdians!!!!
