So I think my dealership nightmare is begnning.

I took the car in yesterday afternoon for the slight grind into 3rd, and bad grind into 5th over 4K RPMs. The service writer comes out on the drive with me and I show him the grind into 5th, he says yea thats a problem (no $#@t Capt. Obvious). So now 15 minutes ago I get a call to authorize the removal of my transmission. He says before you say yes I have to let you know that if the problem you are aving isn't covered under warranty, its going to cost $600. So as I heard that nice lump of cash being said my brain started going into overdrive into what else could cause the grind. I dont think it can be my clutch for a few reasons. 1. My car would start to get boggy and not want to accelerate. When my friends clutch was going out, it would be a struggle to get his car to leave stoplights, and get over 35mph. 2. I dont think my car would even be capable of running a 14.6 1/4 mi if my clutch was that messed up (Can't tell them that though LOL). 3. I think it would grind all of my gears not just 5th over 4K RPM. I know im at 50K, but I tihnk my clutch has a little more life in her. I did however purchase a Spec stage 2+ clutch and JWT flywheel on monday. So if it is the clutch I'm ready to go, but I dont think that 600 for a cltuch job would be a grand thing either. What do you guys think, don't worry about it? Its probably the 5th gear synchro and thats under warranty? or do you sugest I start finding a nice doctor to buy my kidneys? Sorry for the long post, I'm just not made of money and waking up to a 600 possible bill this morning was not a grand way to start a day off.

If you are going to be replacing your clutch anyways, you may just want to wait and see if that fixes the problem. And whoever you get to install it, have them take a look around the trans to see if they can figure out what the problem is. Its most likely your synchro though.

well its too late for that LoL. The car went down there yesterday afternoon. My clutch wont be here until tomorrow or next week. Plus i forgot to mention that it is not brand new in box clutch. It has 2500 miles on it. Only reason I picked itup was becaseu alot of people have said that Nissan wont replace the tranny unless you replace the clutch also. So I wanted to be ready with an aftermarket replacement before they tried to rape me with the 1200 clutch options they liek to put on LoL. I would have waited but this was the only time I had to take the car down there

Called today and they say that my clutch is totally worn. So now I'm going to be paying 653.88 after they put the clutch in that is going to be here tomorrow or monday. I'm going down on monday or tuesday and going to talk to the service manager about the outrageousness of the bill. I know the dealer needs to make some money, I used to work right next door to them at Fairway Chevy, but 650 to replace a clutch holy damn. I know that I kinda of agreed to the 600 when I authorized them to drop the transmission, but what else was I to do? I pretty much had a 50/50 chance and got the short end of the stick. I'm going to bring a tube of KY with me and drop it on the managers desk when I leave and tell him its for the next guy they rape as hard as they raped me.

I'm going to ask why they didnt have a small clue as to what it could be when they test drove it. I still dont see how if my clutch is as totally worn as they say, I dont slip in any gear, and my car only grinds in 5th. When my friends clutch was worn, he would be at 5K rpm and only going like 30mph. My car had none of these problems other than a grind. Sone whack *** Bull$#@T if you ask me

I def. need a new clutch. Mine doesnt slip either. But, I also notice it just doesnt pull as much as it used to when I floor it. Also, another way of telling is once when I downshifted hard...expecting the RPS jump and me to be thrown forward. It didnt happen.. just kinda gradually slowed down (or at least not as fast it should have with a new clutch)

Tell them to save the old parts so you can see how worn it was.

I know pretty much everyone at that dealer. They just went through a bunch of new manager changes... so now they are cracking down on the work and giving discounts and what not.

It's too late. If i see this thread before you don't have to pay over $600. It take me about 1-2 min to find out the clutch need to be replace or not.

Now that I've cooled down I tihnk I will just go talk to the service manager, see if i can get the price reduced to the price that Planet would have charged me for a clutch install. If not, just pay the bill and enjoy my car, because thats what its al about anywayz, the love for the Z You gonna bring your PPW to the toy drive stealth?

Oh.......i forgot to tell you. what you should and must do:

1. You have to resurface the flywheel.(A must)

2. Change the release bearing kit.(Should)

3. Drain the old transmission and refill with Red Line Synthetic Manual Transmission.(Should) Call them up to make sure what is right for your application.
Link >>> http://www.redlineoil.com/products_g...7&categoryID=7

4. Break-In How>>> Drive about 500 miles easy on the clutch. Do not power shift or shift in hi-rpm. 500 miles don't count on the freeway.(A must)

Enjoy your ride.

Redline synthetic will not work. Our transmissions need a 75w 90 oil, which is basically gear oil.

Got the clutch in the car and had a chance to drive it to work. I love the way the new flywheel feels . Only thing I can feel that is wrong is that when im driving it doesnt feel like the clutch is disengaging all of the way now. When i push in the clutch to shift gears it can feel it spinning like its not totally removing contact. Dont know if this is because the dumb@$$es over at United didnt do a clutch fluid flush, or if my clutch pedal needs adjustment. I dont see how you can replace a clutch and not flush/bleed the system .
