Making this thread to see what tye of interest in this race you fellow Z owners would have. I really want to do this run in '07 and think it would be awesome if we could make a team to compete in the different classes.

We have plenty of time to plan for it and would need to decide which race to participate in (there are 2).

If enough interest is shown, could this be stickied?

I think that you can run in any class except for unlimited if you're 18.

Confirmed. For drivers & navigators it's 18 for all classes except Unlimited (which is 21).

Wish I could, but I offered it to a friend at work already. However, will keep you all updated. The more he reads about this race, the more of a chance he will back out I believe.

BTW, to make a team, we will need 7 cars.

I foresee a roadtrip in my future. Looking at the winning cars, etc., if I want any sort of chance, I'm gonna have to map out the entire course with GPS.

I plan on doing the 105mph class btw. since it's first time for me.

I am in for this... Which one are we doing? I think the fall one would give me more time to practice and prepare, but I am down for either...

I"m very interested! I could not get the link to work, but saw the Car Craft site that showed last years event. Damn, there are gonna be some fast rides out there! A 180+ mph Corvair?! Good God! Can anyone post a link showing the Tec requirements/entry fees? Maybe the site is just down.......

Quote: Chris, I wouldn't mind navigating for ya...but I'd definitely need to take a ride up there to get more comfortable with the course. Definitely need to make sure you tires can handle it and your car is super aligned before going.
Hehe... I def want to take a ride up there to check it out beforehand... maybe we can all take a cruise up there sometime soon...?

That crash was discussed at length on the SSCC boards after it happened. It was felt that the entire crash could have been avoided had the idiot driver (magazine owner) not downshifted into third gear while doing about 150-160mph. Soon as he did (can see in video), you can hear the tire squeeling as he completely loses traction.

I can only imagine the rpm's he hit, 12k or so???
