Hit the dyno

Well, I got my car on the dyno yesterday and had my roommate do some tuning. First, gotta do the credits... Tuning done by Jeremy Wolf. Dyno was a Mustang dyno provided by Doug at Doug's Dynopower (The DSM Specialist) in Henderson NV. Now, on to the numbers. First chart is before and after in 4th gear. Tuning was done in 4th gear to avoid running at 140mph+ on the dyno. Tuning was done on a Mustang eddy-current dyno, which is a load-based dyno. Power mods on the car are:

AEM CAI
APS plenum
UR pulleys
DC Sports headers
Ultimate Racing cats
Borla cat-back
Turbo XS UTEC

First, I'd like to preface by saying that this is an '06 with the Rev-Up motor. I don't have any experience with the UTEC prior to now, so I don't know if this is a common problem, but the ECU seemed to be fighting the UTEC. Just when we thought the A:F ratio was good, a new lean spike would appear somewhere else. We also couldn't get the ECU to accept the timing as programmed. It's possible the ECU was cutting back the timing due to high IAT's. Ambient was 92 degrees. The UTEC is also very sensitive to minor changes. Many of the changes to the fuel trims were made in 0.1% increments. I'm going to get the UTEC MAP sensor in the next week or so and see if it's any easier to tune in Speed-Density mode.

As you can see, power went from 249 to 263 and peak TQ actually dropped from 231 to 229. TQ was increased consistently above 5200rpm though.

This graph is 5th gear, before and after tuning:

This is my "internet *****" best 5th gear pull (281HP 237TQ):

Next step is to install the JWT clutch and flywheel. Then I'll get the MAP sensor and map selector switch, install them and get re-tuned.

Nice #. Whats the timming,Coolant temp and Weather temp?

How much you spend? I ask you this because i want to compare with EVO, who get best bang for the buck.

My bad... had the wrong first dyno chart up there. The baseline was 249HP in 4th and 277hp in 5th. I don't have a stock baseline. My baseline is with the parts installed, but not tuned.

Timing was around 24 to 27 degrees total. UTEC is set for 29, but the ECU was pulling timing due to high IAT's. Coolant was at 77-78 C (171-173 F) and ambient was 92-94 degrees F.

I have about $3200 in power parts and about $700 in cooling system parts. The rest is all looks and audio. Bang-for-the-buck, factory FI cars will always win that. $3200 in an EVO should get you close to 400whp.

I'll be going back there soon. I get my clutch/flywheel installed tuesday and I'm getting a MAP sensor so I can switch to speed-density tuning.

Blaine, your Z may be too low to get on the dyno unless you stick some wood boards under the tires creating a small ramp.
I would love to dyno it....but my car always seem to be the problem child with clearance issues =( . So if we can get it on safely then great but if not no biggie...regardless that sounds like a good event so i will go either way.

If you sit any lower than I do then it is going to be hard. It took a guy almost 15 minutes to get my car onto a lift yesterday. There goes my plans of putting on some S-Techs.

Installed my clutch, flywheel and clutch line yesterday. With a friends's help (and his lift) we knocked it out in a little less than 4 hours. Also, got my map selector, MAP sensor and AEM wideband yesterday. I'll be installing those on Saturday.
