This last friday I was offered a job at Nordstrom. I had applied for it thinking there was no way to get it a high end retail job with no previous retail experience. Luckily, they seemed to like my personality and dress, so they offered me a position in Mens Shoes. A couple weeks ago, I was offered a position working temp for new home sales (full time until a builder took me on with them), but the pay was only 10.50 an hour... which is less than half of what Nordstrom pays (commission based with hourly rate also). Needless to say I am taking the Nordstrom job, and I am pretty excited to start - wednesday. note: I am also taking a full load of classes online for a BS in IT so this job isnt meant to be my lifelong career.

My wife, who is a full time travel RN, hates the hospital she works at and wanted to try go-go dancing again. She danced at some of the best clubs in Phoenix but thought there was no way to get a good job here in Vegas with all the plastic girls walking around. She decided to try anyways because she really enjoys it and the money is excellent at the high end Vegas clubs. Since she is asian, and she really enjoys the particular club, she decided that TAO (venetian) would be her best bet. She went to try out on Thursday... and to her surprise, she was offered the job. She will be a "Sake Girl" which consists of dancing on the platforms for 15 minutes or so and then going down and taking shots to people. The money is very good and it fits well with her schedule at the hospital.

It feels like things in Vegas have really turned around for us so we are both really excited. If any of you guys shop at Nordstrom (i figure some of you do), i would really appreciate you stopping buy and giving me your business (they sell more than high class dress shoes)... I give you my word that your customer service will be top notch. And as soon as we figure out all her benifits to working at TAO (getting tables, VIP, etc) I will be organizing a Z meet at TAO - or any other clubs she gets a hook up. I have not been able to make very many meets, many because of our money/job situation here, but things seem to be turning around. We were planning to leave for SoCal at the beginning of August if these jobs didnt work out, but they have so we are staying for a while. Cant wait to be back in good situations again.

You wore a dress? j/k Congrats to you and your wife for finding the good paying jobs that you guys wanted. I'm guessing you guys don't spend too much time in one spot since you were already planning to move to Cali if things didn't pan out?

lol, We have lived in 3 cities in the last year. We plan on living in a few more cities before we settle down and start having kids. We want to live in OC, San Diego, Hawaii, and possibly one or two more cities in the next few years, then we will decide where we want to raise a family. With the new jobs here, we might stay for a while though... maybe even permanantly.

 

You better still do Real Estate, even if it's just part time

That book is pretty famous. I start working on the floor this week so I am hoping I get good at it fast. The big sale is coming up so its a good time to start. I found out that I can sell anything in the store if I want to so if anyone needs anything at Nordstrom, let me know... I do work off of commission so every sale helps.
