Its actually quite interesting finding out the history of your car. My Z was an early '03 and started life in Florida where it transfered from the dealer through two different owners before going to auto auction where it was purchased by Land Rover Las Vegas. Then thats where I got it and the rest is history.

It also tells you if there has been any reported damage, accidents, recalls, etc on your car which is always good to know.

I am the 2nd owner of my EVO and it was an early '05 model too and has always been a Las Vegas car. I also found out from the dealer that the previous owner was a female so if you know a girl that used to drive a lightly modded gray 2005 EVO MR, let me know as I would love to contact her about the history of the car and find out how she went through 2 clutches in 30k miles

Carfax is brutally inaccurate sometimes... Be carefull.

I ran a carfax on a car I bought (about two years after I bought it) brand new with 3.4 miles on it and it came back "Dirty"...


But, it can be very usefull. You just want to verify any bad info it may give you.

I did a CarFax on both my BMW's.... gave the day they arrived at the California port from Germany (plus all the dealer checkups when the owners brought it in).

My car surprised me. I bought it in late 03 I think and it only had 10k on it. I thought for sure that I was the second owner.

 

Nope, I think the first guy had it for 4 months and the second for 3 months.
