Unknown metal tube from automatic tranny

I have a 88 300zx and i just recently rebuilt my engine. When I started to put the engine in I found a long metal tube coming from the driver side of the transmission. It connects to the tranny by a rubber hose on the driver side which sticks out about half way down. The problem is I have no idea where the other end goes. It looks like a vacuum hose to me but if so where does it hook up? Any help is appreciated.

I wonder if hes talking about the AIV Stainless steel tube. But that dosnt run to the tranny, it connectes to the exaust downpipe.

OK i just figured out there is sup post to be a metal hard line that connects the Vacuum Diaphragm to the intake manifold for the transmission to operate correctly. This what your talking about?
