is this normal ?

I've got an 83 280zx and when you floor on blacktop , it doesn't spin the tires . It just squats and goes , has good top speed , is this normal? No upgrades on engine or drivetrain , automatic trans . Has good top end , as far as I can tell with 85 mph speedo .

Yes that is normal even with a manual transmission. You would need over 200 foot pounds of torque to break the tires loose without using the clutch.

Consider yourself lucky, you make decent power in a car that is relatively light weight and you have enough traction NOT to break the tires loose.

weight loss

I've started removing excess weight from my car and doing the little things that i can to get more of the hp that I've already got . Removed spare tire and cruise control yesterday . Going to get rid of clutch fan and put in electric and get K & N type air filter setup .Might think about some type of ecu upgrade when i have more cash , which way is the easiest and least trouble ?
