normal rpm's?

i have a 90 2+2 n/a 5speed

that just seems to be running to high of rpm's all of the time

80 on freeway im sitting around 3500+

and accelerating normal to get up to 65 in most gears im hitting 4500-5k for a reasonable accleration

maybe a bigger rear end or tps issue?

also when i first go the car it was a bit too dogy, after some playing around i found someone replaced the idle screw on the left throttle with a bolt and it would only open half way, fixed that but now both throttles only open about 90% but thats due that that screw or whatever in the back i have to remove or shave off or whatever. but now it idles at 1500 and when you push down on the left throttle body linkage it starts to idle normal again but the plates are adjusted the same...... any ideas. car has alot more snot but still seems like its missing that punch and still gets horrible fuel mileage. i get about 60 miles on 20$

You know, with a manual, you choose when to change gears

As for reasonable acceleration, the turbos only really kick in at 3k in my car which is definitely when I'm feeling acceleration. So to me 4.5k without turbos sounds about right

yes there is that lol and there is "reasonable" based on road conditions and laws haha. reasonable for me is going through all 5 gears to reach speed.

i got in enough trouble using "reasonable" like u say ha

Sounds right for the gears that are in it, you want a lower RPM? Drive slower. It's like people complaining there SUV's are getting 12mpg on the freeway yet they are doing 90mph.
