ignition
Re: ignition
Re: ignition
i imagine you could order one from nissan. part number for it is as follows:
7/83-9/83 turbo and non = 22020-12p10
9/83-8/87 turbo and non = 22020-12p11
8/87 and later turbo and non = 22020-26p10
it's called an "ignition unit transistor" in case you want to try autozone or someplace like that. (that's what nissan calls it anyway). plug in the part number at nissanparts.cc and you'll get an idea of what it'll cost new.
you can also try a junkyard, should be pretty cheap there.

Re: ignition
what is your car doing, and under what conditions? I dont see too many of those go out. What leads you to believe it's the transistor that is the problem?? gimme some more info and i'll see if i have any other suggestions...
Re: ignition
well, the transistor just looks like it may be burned up. i couldnt give you a very good picture on it cuz i was in a hurry and my focus on my webcam is screwed up. but anyway. My car will start up just fine after sitting over night, i get driving down the road and then about 5 to 10 minutes later it will die. after it dies it doesnt restart till it cools off for between 20 minutes to an hour. i've replaced the coil already. the one i had wasn't putting out much anyway. when it dies its not a fuel problem, its a spark problem the spark doesnt get past the distributor. i've also heard that if the fuel pressure regulator is messed up it can tell the car to stop sparking. if you have heard of this evil nasty problem and know what it could be any help would be appreciated. thx
Car shuts down when warmed up.
