Transmission Problems?

Ok, i bought a 1988 300zx 2+2 and it used to turn off like crazy. I took it to the mechanic and now it rarely turns off(he said he fixed something with the wires). It's an automatic transmission and whenever i put it on reverse there's a thump and a jump(transmission mount maybe?). Anyway, the car will run fine but there's a period of time while on the road when it slows down then has really bad acceleration. There's also a time that it feels like its not accelerating then it will drive normally. Many people have told me it's the tranny but i got no clue. plz hlp!

The thump is most likely the rear differential mount. Learn to work on it or it will cost you a lot of money fixing stuff. You will very soon spend more that the entire car is worth paying someone to diagnose and fix problems.

You will need to get a Haynes manual, (not Chilton) and download a free factory service manual, FSM here.
