DIY camera mount

Here's what I have out of pocket. I found the camera and after 2 months in the lost and found and posts on the local forums, it's mine.

gopro camera-- $0
plexiglass to repair case-- $0
1/4" aluminum bar stock-- $0
suction cup-- $2 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=97713
screws-- $0.60

total--- $2.60
Double that if you want to use 2 suction cups.

I don't count my time since I'm doing this for myself. The picture speaks for itself so you can see it is pretty simple.

You could also use plexiglass in place of the bar stock. heat and bend to fit.

It's a very easy DIY project for which ever camera you have.

it is my undercover 3/4" deepwell socket.

Now I have a 1 1/8" socket. Hopefully it will stay on during the day.

If it does then it should be okay to have the camera during the track day.

00h! I've been thinking about getting a big suction cup for an external camera mount. I guess I gotta go down the street to Harbor Freight.

I wouldn't mount one on the outside of the car without some kind of restraint system in case the suction cups let loose.

So far the suction cup is holding with the big socket and hasn't lost any of the pressure.

Harbor frieght does have the handle with 2 suction cups, but check out the material they are made of. For my application it was too rigid.

There is a link to the suction cup on harbor frieght. Only mine had 2 hooks instead of one. You'll cut the hooks off anyway.

You can make a longer frame to allow the camera to be mounted on top of the bar. I would use 1/8" thick flat aluminum stock for the next one.
