Hard time starting

Hey Z owners,
I recently bought a 1993 n/a z32. I knew the engine needed work, but didnt know exactly what, I bought it from a used car lot, without them actually getting down to it, to go through it, but they did say it runs on 3cylinders..
I went to wal mart, and bought a new battery, put it in, and started the car, it was hitting on all the cylinders.

I think it may be out of time, or in need of a timing belt, or jumped time.
There is a top end noise in the engine, sometimes it starts, sometimes it takes longer, i have to keep my foot on the pedal for it to keep running.
As soon as i let my foot off the pedal, it dies.
I know its not a rod knock.

So I'm thinking its out of time..

Any ideas will help me, FYI I searched, and didnt find anything.
Thank you.

start with making sure every things in spec and fresh. check your valve lash, timing, ect. change the plugs (NGK), wires, dizzy cap and rotor.

check all connectors and wiring, make sure its all connected and not corroded ect
