oil change

im thinking about changing to mobil 1 synthetic oil on my NA Z.
how long should i wait for oil changes after i start using this oil?
should i use 10W-30 or 10W-40?
is there another oil u think i should use instead of this one?

I've been using mobil 1 since I bought the car. I use 10w40 here in SoCal. I have been changing the oil every 5k miles and it doesn't appear the least bit dirty. I've changed the oil at 5k mile intervals on every fuel injected car I've owned and the motors have all lasted well over 220k miles before I sell them.

IF YOU PREVIOUSLY USED CONVENTIONAL OIL, DO NOT SWITCH TO SYNTHETIC!!!
Unless of course you do not like your motor.

Other than that, as far as synthetic oil, Amsoil is thee best! Redline is also a very good oil.

Higher mileage cars have been known to start burning a little bit of oil after switching to synthetics. You also might notice a little lower oil pressure. I think the benefit of the synthetics out weighs the negatives. Especially in a motor that is known to run hot and only carries 3-1/2 +/- quarts of oil.

well, some mechanics say switching from conventional to synthetic on a higher mileage car would ruin the seals and cause (or increase) oil leaks/consumption. Again, some say its fine to switch to synthetic.

BUT, this is the way I look at it, if half say its bad, I'm going to play it safe and not do it....
