As you may have read my antilock brakes and hicas lights are on. I took my car to the local nissan dealeship and had them check what was causing the light to come on and the stiff steering. Well, got the call from them and they said that the culprit is the abs actuator or control unit that is causing the light to show and stiff steering. They said that a brand new one will cost $1300 and 80 bucks to put it in. well i cant really fork up that kinda money right now, so does anybody know where I can get that part for cheap. For people parting out their car i would like to make a deal with you. how hard is it to changed the unit itself? Thanks

 

If it's only $80 to put in, then it can't be that bad. Call Courtesy Parts and see what they sell it for. Z1 has a yard of scrapped Z's for parts.

 

There are both a abs actuator and a abs control unit. Neither are very cheap even as remanufactured. You can check kragen, autozone and rock auto online for prices. Most auto salvage yards offer a warranty on parts, that is if it doesn't work when you install it, they'll replace it or refund your money.

I for one wouldn't trust the dealer. maybe find a z shop for diagnostics

I wouldnt trust the dealers also but the shops around here charged the same price for the diagnostic so I figured i'd go to the dealership since they got the consult and other diagnostic stuff. Im going to pick up my car tom. and find out exactly what i need. Im pretty sure the guy said abs control unit. do you guys know of any z shops in Sacramento? I live in Reno and dont know of any good shops here. Thanks
