since we're on the topic of vacume lines . . . can anybody tell me what this is? it started making a, i dunno, weak souding rattle or sucking noise internaly and when i disconnect the vacume line leading to it the noise stops, but to my knowledge does not hinder engine performance. what is it and whats it do?
Its located just under the idle adjustment

so . . .
the noise maker is the BCDD (Boost Control Deceleration Device) this device is vacuum operated and controls the engine RPM when the clutch is disengaged coming to a stop. It is designed to bring the engine idle down slowly. It is actually part of the emission system. The noise I was hearing is a leak in the unit.

dothedrew great help, but i still need to know where the 2 small hoses coming through the firewall(below battery and a little to front) the picture doesnt show them. any help please, also the where do the hoses from the vaccum tank go?. jim
I believe the lines you are talking about are coolant lines that run along the side of the engine. There is a small metal fitting that sticks off the side of the engine just below the spark plugs near the firewall that they connect to. Are those the lines you are talking about?
vaccum lines
skully iam sorry for beating this to death but i believe them 2 rubber hoses coming through firewall (they connect to the a/c and heater control panel on the dash) and goes to the vaccum tank (located under the engine night light) which the picture does not show the vaccum tank. jim
Ok, I just looked. I found one line coming out of the passenger side of the firewall. It ran to the vacuum tank and connected to the thing with the yellow cap on it (the connection to the left and slightly lower). I hope that helps.
