this kid i work with just got a '90 celica gt. we got off work at the same time and he thinks he's gonna be hot s**t and whup my '87na. HA!!!! i made him look like he left the e-brake on!!! hes only 19 and this is his first sports car (if you can call a fwd a sports car) so i'll give him a break, but still, i'm gonna laugh my *** off at him at work tomorrow. at least its not a honda, and i do have a bit of respect for the gen 5 celicas, i considered buying one a while ago, but was mainly interested in the gt4 all trac. but those cost as much as a tt z, and i think we all know which of those i would buy first. i'll take 300 rwd hp over 200 awd hp any day.

good kill, i used to hate every other make than nissan. now i just hate ALL 4bangers.

 

I know the Z31's have more hp than the 240Z, but I've spanked some celica's too. I raced this gt-s (their sport/racing edition), and at the rolling start, of about 55 in 3rd gear, I spanked it all the way through 4th gear. I got up next to it, and he kept trying to pull away from me, so then I got up next to him again, and when he tried to pull away, I dropped it into 3rd, and I was gone. By the time I hit 4th gear, I was 2 car lengths ahead of him, and it wasn't until I hit traffic that he caught up.

 

i stick them in the "secretary sports car" category, meaning a sporty looking car with not much hp made for teenage and twenty-something girls. they do have a decent rally history though.

i dont consider it much of a kill, i've got a good 50hp and a few years of driving on him. just wanted to laugh about showing up another 4-banger.

 

wow. i might not haven many years of driving on other people I raced. (or non at all) but i sure spanked some people pretty bad. worse car I beat was a CRX Si. (about four truck lengths behind.) we went off the line on to the freeway. and let me tell you. that guy isstill grining he's gonna take my car when he drops the B16 in there. (WHOoooOO00oo B16 scary) LMAO how lame i'm such a ricer.

Sorry, i didnt clarify. The 5th gen celicas are horribly slow. They basically kept the same engine from the before model and upped the poundage severly. The older 4th gen should do low 16s but the newer ones added too much creature comfort and are rated at high 16's or low 17's.
Also the gts model is the top model but does not add any enhancements to performance over the gt.

Btw not all 4 bangers are bad. Thats just a rash assumption.

 

please understand that i wasnt bragging about beating an obviously lesser car, i did say earlier that i didnt really consider it much of a kill. and i dont hate cars just because they are 4cyl, i just think its funny that people think their stock or lightly modded 4banger econoboxes are fast. i was just sharing a good laugh about one more kid with a 4 banger that thought he was hot s**t, and that i showed him the light by whupping his ***.

 

Hey guys I have a Celica as you can see in my sig. And it has 150hp, pretty quick for a 4-banger. But this car hasn't given me any problems in almost a year. I got it last Sep. Verry dependable car, not like I bought it to race. Just to save me on fuel, and until my Z gets up and running again.
